Beanie knitting pattern

Beanie knitting pattern

This is a very simple knitting pattern for a beanie that I got from my aunt. I can’t for the life of me tell you where she got it but it looks pretty old!

You can cast on more or less stitches very easily, just make sure its a multiple of 4.

I use 4mm needles and double knit wool for these. I’m sure variations of both are fine – this really is a simple pattern!

Cast on 100 stitches

Rows 1 – 65:  Knit 2 , purl 2. (you can do more or less rows, depending on how long you want the beanie to be.

Next, you start to shape the top of the beanie.

Row 66: Knit

Row 67: Purl

Row 68: Knit 1, Knit 2 together

Row 69: Purl

Row 70: Knit 2 together

Row 71: Purl

Row 72: Knit 2 together

Row 73: Purl

Row 74: Knit 2 together

Row 75: Purl

Row 76: Knit 2 together

Row 77: Cast off

To add a touch of character, it’s quite cool to add some stripes in a different colour.

I’d love to hear about any knitting projects you’re working on!
